Statement of Intent

The purpose of the magazine and website is to present a modern and innovative style magazine called TBD (To Be Defined). The name represents individuality, creativity, and fashion diversity. The title conveys the sense of independence, self-determination, and self-expression. It highlights that fashion is never static, but it always changes and evolves, and individuals can define their styles freely. Thus, my aim is to design a product that would be suitable for young people who are keen on trends and fashion.

The use of eye-catching colours is essential for creating a visual impact that would make the magazine cover attractive and noticeable. It plays a crucial role in developing the idea of my concept. It highlights the importance of attracting attention instantly when a potential buyer sees the magazine. Therefore, it should be noticeable among other magazines that are usually located nearby. Moreover, I used similar colour in the website to create consistency between two types of presentation.

The design of the magazine cover is based on the idea of fashion magazines' covers. First of all, I tried to include a powerful masthead, headlines and a structured design that would nevertheless be fresh and exciting. The typography style was chosen in such a way to make the cover modern and expressive.

One of the problems I faced during this project is that I wasn't able to get enough photos of people to use on the covers or website, meaning I had to rely on older, lower definition pictures.

Another issue I faced during this assignment was the fact that I found it frustrating trying to work with the website builder, Wix, effectively enough. There were a lot of times that features that would have greatly helped in the creation of the website were dysfunctional, or outright impossible to use. Along with this, there were several occasions when the program didn't allow to save my work. This heavily affected my work negatively, slowing its pace and making it more frustrating.

All in all, I know that I could have done a better job at this project, and there are a few ways in which I would make improvements if I had the chance to repeat this process. While the end result effectively conveys the message of the brand, I could have improved upon the professional quality of the designs. In terms of improving upon future efforts, I feel that better layout consistency, more effective use of imagery, and better attention to detail would contribute to a more cohesive product overall. I also believe that utilising more tools in the website might add more appeal. Regardless of how it differed from my expectations, the project successfully conveyed the idea of TBD and my knowledge of the fashion magazine world.
